Pastor's Notes

Isa 14 24 thru 15 9

14:27   Book of burdens…1st Babylon, now Assyria.  Powerful verse…Men take an oath to confirm word. Why would God, who never spoken untruth, and who commands, “Yes be yes” swear?  How much firmer get?  His “thought” will happen.  God not struggling/strategizing.  Dn 2:45 prophecy “certain”.  God’s plans set and be fulfilled.  Even if WE have no trust in our decisions or of those around us, can fully trust God’s will is going be accomplished!

Consider those trembling behind Passover door…God’s Word not fail regardless faith (2 Tim 2:13).  Only thing that changes is our peace.  Nm 23:19  A Spirit led Christian who believes God’s Word can never point to an experience in anger/unforgiveness/regret, because God in control!!!

Hard teaching because so difficult accept suffering/unfairness.  Job fell down and worshipped, saying Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?…Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.  What are God’s “thoughts”?  Jer 29:11-13  Humanity clearly running on a pre-determined course and prophecy proves it.  Peter's sermon at Pentecost, modern conditions spoken in Scripture.  How join Him in His plans?  YIELD.

Rm 12:1-2 If willing live in His Words and Commands, then can confidently walk in His Assurance and will prove His will. Option #2?  Joseph or Jonah…People can try and stop train by standing on tracks, but to fight against God’s purpose is to destroy self.  What Mordecai say?  For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? (Es 4:14), Many churches today, desperately trying to alleviate increasing wickedness in World and the falling away of church (myself included), but great peace when read this vs and realize He hasn’t asked us to change gvt (antichrist coming) or to fix the world (Mt 24:12-13).  He even told us hard to hold on thru difficult times (Lk 18:8).  Spread the Gospel Mt 24:14 to make Him known to suffering humanity, so they might become His.  Dark times are not “bad”.  God done many > things when dark.  Creation, Exodus, JC birth, JC ministry (Those who sat in darkness), Crucifixion.  God’s purposes will be completed…

14: 29  Constant warfare between Israel and Phils…When Israel humbled, God warns not glory.  Uzziah done much damage (God helped him against…2Chr. 26:6-7), but over last decade gaining strength (S. Judah because Ahaz evil 2Chr. 28:18) and now that Ahaz dead…They haven’t met Hezekiah ( Subdued Phils 2Ki. 18:8) or Babylon.  Again, we should not worry about injustice.  Rm 12…Vengeance is Mine, I will repay…

14:32   God’s answer?  He established Zion. When trouble comes, Peter says, 2 Pt 2:9 the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment…what God founds will remain.  Storm may beat and prove foundation, but it will become evident.  Lesson?  Which brings more glory to God, pointing at victory after God given or pointing to God before the trouble overcome?  Which willing do?

15:4     Founder of Moab (Gen 19:30-38), modern Jordan.  This why Dt 2:9 At times, >enemies Israel, Balak king of Moab hired Balaam (Nm 22-25), Eglon oppressed (Jg 3:12-30).  During reign Saul/David, Israel began to control, interesting fact, David ¼ Moabite and when running from Saul placed family under Moabite protection (1 Sam 22:3-4).  I believe, for these reasons, sadness in this judgment.

15:6     Judgment was sudden.  Spoken ~704 BC. Two years later Sargon king of Assyria attacked Arabia and as traveled thru wiped out Moab coming and going.  Isa very specific 16:14

15:9     Moab still named in future.  As get into 16, find out Moab (Jordan) an important place during Tribulation.  Sela?  Rv 12?   God wills to preserve His remnant in Moab?  Book of burdens continues in next short chptrs and some rather interesting stuff.  Some see Egyptian Aswan Dam in chpt 19, some see America in chp 18 we’ll just have to wait.

Aug. 31, 2009 - The Arctic Sea, a Russian cargo ship disappeared in July on its way from Finland to Algeria. Russia eventually found the ship and claims that the ship had been hijacked and then rescued by its navy without a shot being fired.

But there are baffling details left unexplained, leading some experts to claim that the truth is much more sinister: the they say, was intercepted by Israel as it carried a secret cargo of weapons to the Middle East.

The European Union's rapporteur on piracy and a former commander of the Estonian armed forces, Admiral Tarmo Kouts, says that only a shipment of missiles could account for Russia's bizarre behavior during the event.
